Imperator 576874 Imperator Hamburg Amerika Linie (HAPAG) A company monochrome art card featuring the Imperator. Postally used in July 1914 by a passenger with a U.S. German Sea PO cancellation. In August 1914 she was laid up for the period of the First World War and never sailed for Hamburg Amerika again. Light corner and edge wear and a few surface marks. Feint inked writing to the black area on the left side of the front of the card. Otherwise very light marking to the front of the card with impression from postal cancellation top right and left. Postally used with a U.S. German Sea Po cancellation and written at Plymouth / Cherbourg on 25th July 1913. Her maiden voyage was only just over a month earlier. Very light corner and edge wear, but a crease on the top right corner tip, most noticable from the reverse. A light surface bend and surface crinkle on the bottom left in the sea just under the bow of the vessel. Light album corner impressions. Otherwise very light marking to the front. Imperator Nikolai II 1269406 Imperator Nikolai II Helmsing & Grimm (St. Petersburg Express Line) A Russian company printed advertising art postcard featuring the Imperator Nikolai II. She was built in 1903 as the Irkutsk for Handelshaus Gebr. Lassman. In 1910 she passed to Helmsing & Grimm and became the Imperator Nikolai II. She passed to Det Forenede D/S A/S in 1919 and became the Dagmar in 1920. the card is written by someone at Kiel in 1913, but not postally used. Very light corner and edge wear, but a small crease on the top right corner tip. A very light impression from a circular postal cancellation top right. A couple of small marks to the front and a few small foxing spots, mainly near the top edge and bottom left. Light marking / age toning to the reverse with a few very light foxing spots. (VG-) £12.99
